As the capital of England, London has amazing sights and sounds to amaze all the family. The tower of London, Buckingham Palace, London Dungeons, Madame Tussauds, immersive shopping, and the London Eye are just some of the attractions for a London hotel city break.

Sounds impressive?  Well, I’ve been looking into this as something to do with my family and it’s not as expensive as you might think.  Especially if you go to London Pass to get your tickets into these places. (http://www.londonpass.com/) (and no, I don’t have any affiliation with London Pass, it’s just a service I’m considering on using as the prices seem fair and can get me into the places I want to get to.)

One thing I would recommend though, and that’s work out the length of time your going to be in London, against the cost of going to the places individually, or with a day pass, sometimes, if your only going to be a few hours each day in London doing the sightseeing bit, then it may be a better thing to do to just “pay as you go”

The extensive business district and many exhibition centres also play host to major events, the o2 arena enjoys huge rock bands concerts and with major airports such as Gatwick and Heathrow that have direct links in London City, there has never been a better to book your stay in London.

I’ve been looking on-line to get a nice hotel, but without having to spend a fortune to stay their and came across Roomguide, who have listed on their website “Our extensive range of hotels, bed and breakfasts, apartments and hostels in London will make any stay in this city a fantastic experience. Our roomguide.co.uk best rate guarantee ensures that your stay in London will be at the cheapest rate bookable anywhere on the Internet. We offer huge discounts, with up to 75% off London hotel breaks, will enable you to spend money on top attractions instead of your accommodation!”

Visiting Cologne Germany – Five Great Places to See http://balashiha.su/?p=10343 http://balashiha.su/?p=10343#respond Fri, 13 Jan 2012 01:10:43 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=10343 Visiting Cologne Germany – Five Great Places to See

Are you considering a visit to Germany? Why not visit the city of Cologne. It has a history which goes back to the Roman era. Located next to river Rhine and the fourth largest city in Germany it offers good a connection to the nearby cities of D?sseldorf and Bonn. Cologne is also linked with Amsterdam, Brussels, London and Paris by Thalys, ICE and Eurostar High Speed trains. The Frankfurt airport has a direct service to Cologne and is within one hour by ICE trains.

Cologne has plenty to offer in terms of entertainment and culture. The following places are certainly worth seeing:

The Gothic Cathedral, also known as the Dom, is the city’s most famous landmark and also a well known architectural monument in Germany. It is 144 metres long and 86 meters wide and has two spires that are 157 metres in height. Construction began in 1248 to house the relics of the Magi, the Dom was not completed until 1880. The completion of the cathedral was celebrated as a national event. Despite changing architectural styles through the centuries, the result is essentially Gothic. Situated in the centre of Cologne, from the top of the Dom’s south tower there are panoramic views across the city and surrounding area. Open daily from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, except during religious services.

The most impressive attraction in the Roman-Germanic Museum is the 70 square metre Dionysos-Mosaik. The mosaic, once the floor of the main room of a large Roman villa dating from the third century, was discovered in 1941 during excavation work for an air-raid shelter. The Museum, which was opened in 1974 and is situated near the K?lner Dom, boasts a collection of prehistoric, ancient and medieval finds. The exhibitions give an insight into the daily life, beliefs and customs of long-forgotten cultures. An unusual feature is the collection of Roman glassware.

Cologne is the city of live music and concerts, with music from all periods from all over the world and in the most diverse stylistic schools and movements performed here every day. The powerfully pulsating heart of this Cologne music culture, is the philharmonic hall built in the cathedral mound, which seats 2000 people. Since its opening in 1986, it has become one of the leading international concert halls. The ‘Philharmonie’ concert hall has at least one performance scheduled for virtually every day of the year. Recitals range from chamber music to jazz, folk and pop, with a house policy of encouraging lesser-known, new and unusual music.

The city hall in Alter Markt (Old Square) dates from 1330 but has a tower from the 15th century and a Renaissance facade from the 16th century. Having been damaged during the Second World War, part of the 14th-century Renaissance building was rebuilt. Cologne artisans concentrated particularly on restoring the City Hall tower, and thanks to their donations the City Hall got restored properly. Statues of emperors, popes, poets and academics – and also of women’s rights campaigners – look down from the tower on the busy square below.

The Old Market lies in the heart of the old town. Surrounded by bars and restaurants, it hosts a variety of events all year round: home to the Christmas market during the festive season and the Medienburgerfestival in the summer, the Old Market is perhaps best known for the Carnival which begins here at 11.11 am on the 11th day of the 11th month. This is when Cologne goes completely crazy. During the Middle Ages, the Old Market was Cologne’s commercial centre, and the nearby butter market, fish market and hay market were some of its subsidiaries. Nowadays, it is simply a focal point for tourists who flock here to witness the comings and goings around the market fountain.

Adventure Travel Basics http://balashiha.su/?p=582 http://balashiha.su/?p=582#respond Tue, 06 Dec 2011 00:53:33 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=582 Adventure Travel Basics

Adventure Travel Basics will help you define your personal adventure travel style and it also offers suggestions about the types of trips that might fit your dream list. Following are tips for planning your vacation and packing for a trip and where to find companies that offer the trips you dream about taking.

Traveling another country

When traveling to another country, visitors need to think of things like electrical outlets. Make sure you have the adaptors you need for items requiring electricity. Personal items the traveler will need should be thought of ahead of time. You must have prescriptions filled and take extra medications. Carry first aid kits, sun block, and even things like shampoo might need with you. Often, adventure travel means going to remote places so you need to be thorough, but light.

For some, adventure travel equates to grabbing the whitewater kayak and heading down to the river or securing a bungee cord to your ankle and jumping off the bridge.

Trip to desert

Make sure you have the proper clothing when heading out for adventure. If you are going to be going on a desert safari in Egypt be prepared for the heat. Take water, wear protective clothing and bring sunscreen with you. Traveling through areas such as Montana where the weather can be sunny and bright at midday, but possible snowy at nightfall, presents a challenge. Be aware of the extremes wherever you are going to be traveling.

Prague is an ideal place for all the music devotees for they can relish the classical concerts at the Sate Opera and at the Rudolfinum or the Municipal House. The Prague Autumn Festival is a big music event that offers lots of classical concerts and music. The Prague Spring festival is famous all over Europe.

If adventure travel is up your alley than consider a trip to Patagonia, Argentina’s southernmost region filled with towering mountains and enormous glaciers. There are several national parks of interest, and cruises to Antarctica are available from Puenta Arenas and Ushuaia. If you’re planning to fly from Buenos Aires, consider landing in El Calafate, near the Pietro Moreno glacier or Ushuaia on Tierra del Fuego.

In present times, Barcelona is definitely a cultural metropolis – ‘a cultural crossroad’ – with excellent, carefully organized events and festivals reflecting this diversity. Taking place largely at the CCCB, Asian film festival in Barcelona will be the tenth edition of one of Europe’s top Asian film festivals. Why an Asian film festival in Barcelona? Well, for one thing Barcelona is now home to a large number of Asian immigrants. Languages: English and Spanish.

The “Teaching and Continuous Training” trade fair, formerly aka the “Sal? de l’Ensenyament” and now known as “Estudia”, is one of Barcelona’s big local trade fairs.

Barcelona likes to think itself as always at the height of fashion and its Fashion Week, the Pasarela Gaud? is its big annual event. “Moda Barcelona’s” next big event is June’s “BCN Bridal Week”.

Barcelona is one of the cultural capitals of Europe and there are always a number of exciting shows, pop, rock and classical concerts and exhibitions on each month. Summer is serious party time and busy time for Barcelona hotels, with week-long fiesta fun. But year-round the city sizzles – it’s always on the biting edge of architecture, food, fashion, style, music and good times. Tourists can find all types of holiday requirement – from economical Barcelona hotels to grand luxury and the very best in services and facilities.

Popularly known as the “Grec Festival”, Barcelona’s summer arts extravaganza is the most important cultural event of the season. Events take place at venues across the city including the Teatre Grec, Fundaci? Joan Mir? and Pla?a del Rei.

The Barcelona International Jazz Festival is one of Europe’s longest-running and most well-respected events. It takes place in the autumn, a perfect time to visit the city as the summer heat has subsided and there are less tourists and more hotels in Barcelona are available. The music comes in a wide variety of styles, from big bands and bebop to gospel and Latin jazz, consistently attracting a great line-up of international performers.

The Catalonian Moto GP is one of the most popular rounds of the World Championship. Taking place at the Circuit de Catalunya close to Barcelona, it attracts holidaymakers and race fans alike. The modern circuit has a capacity of 100,000, so the atmosphere is always electric.

Formula One is the king of motor sports. Since its inauguration in 1950, it has attracted the very best talents in the world of motor racing, hungry for the fabulous riches and unrivalled prestige it offers. The Circuit de Catalunya, just outside Barcelona, hosts the Gran Premio De Espana Telefonica 2008, otherwise known as the Spanish Grand Prix, the fourth race of the 2008 Formula One season.

And of course Christmas is a big event in Barcelona. If you are visiting Barcelona and going to be decorating the house for Christmas – particularly if you have a crib (Nativity scene), don’t miss the Feria de Santa Lucia, in the square in front of the Cathedral.

Rent A Houston Limo For Your Next Rock Concert http://balashiha.su/?p=7266 http://balashiha.su/?p=7266#respond Tue, 10 Aug 2010 08:18:24 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=7266 Rent A Houston Limo For Your Next Rock Concert

Getting several friends together to see your favorite band can be a great night. Renting a Houston limo for you and your entourage turns a great night into a banner event that can make you the envy of those in the outer circle. Make the evening leading up to–and following–the show a night to remember.
A Houston limousine service provides safe, professional transportation to and from the concert venue, as well as a host of amenities, including a full bar, a high quality sound system piping in your favorite tunes and even TVs showing movies or concert videos that fit the evening’s theme. Check with the company while drawing up your contract to find out about the full range of limo services provided, as well as optional services you might like to add.
A car service is not limited to just ferrying the group to the show and back. Let a luxury vehicle pick up each friend from at their home, just like a celebrity, and enjoy dinner and drinks before heading to the concert. Without the hassle of planning the evening around parking, take part in pre-concert festivities by relaxing and enjoying the company of friends at a restaurant or bar while the car waits for your signal that it’s time to get moving! The limo will get you there in style and in time for the opening act.
A company representative will set you up with the right style of car for the number of people and the desired effect. A stretch limousine provides a grand entrance at a nightclub or stadium, while a luxury town car might be a better fit for one or two couples looking to arrive in a more understated manner. When the show is over but the night is still young, let your driver whisk you to your next destination for after-show drinks. No one has to worry about being the designated driver, and everyone gets home safe when someone else is hired to do the driving.
While limousine rentals might seem expensive, when you split the bill with the whole gang, the cost becomes reasonable and affordable for everyone involved. When you throw in gas and parking fees to get everyone there, or the time wasted dealing with public transportation, having your own private limo almost pays for itself. Plus, hiring a Houston limo for the next big rock show can make you and your friends feel like part of the band for the night.
