control – Balashiha http://balashiha.su Sat, 22 Sep 2012 20:00:30 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=5.1.18 Driving on the Wrong Side of the Road http://balashiha.su/?p=2892 http://balashiha.su/?p=2892#respond Wed, 01 Feb 2012 18:48:17 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=2892 Driving on the Wrong Side of the Road

Here are a few of the ‘When Driving in Australia’ things to consider:

1. Australians drive on the left hand side of the road which may be ‘right’ for them but when you get behind the wheel of an Australian car remember that oncoming traffic will be approaching you on your right hand side. It is not uncommon for travellers arriving in Australia from left hand drive counties to have accidents soon after they leave the airport in their shiny new hire car because they have managed to get themselves on to the wrong side of the road. This also occurs more frequently around popular tourist destinations such as the Great Ocean Road along Victoria’s south coast.

2. Australia’s exotic wildlife love to physically confront cars, particularly appearing in front of them as dusk settles or in the middle of the night. While a collision with a heavy set kangaroo or wombat will most likely leave your vehicle un-drivable, do not, if you are confronted with any wildlife, try to steer around it. If it is safe for you to slow down then do so, but do not swerve to avoid it as you may well end up driving off the side of the road and into one of those huge majestic Australian Gum trees, which while being home to the cuddly Australian koalas are unforgiving in any impact with a vehicle or into oncoming traffic. Yes this means let your vehicle hit the animal if you cannot safely avoid it.

3. Vehicles made specifically for Australia often have the indicators and the windscreen wiper levers on the opposite side to European made right hand drive vehicles. So while you are almost guaranteed to turn the wipers on when wanting to turn left or right, or the indicators on to clear the water from the windscreen, familiarize yourself with the controls so at least you will be able to quickly correct any mistake.

4. Speed limits in Australia are a contentious issue even for Australian drivers and can vary a number of times in a short distance in residential areas and leading into or out of regional towns. There are also different speed limits during certain times for school zones and different states across Australia may also have different maximum speed limits. All speed limits are well sign posted so just watch for the signs and you’ll be ok.

5. If you are travelling to Victoria and venture into the city of Melbourne you will see signs for what are called ‘Hook turns’. These ‘Hook Turns’ have nothing to do with pirates, rather they are designed to encourage the flow of traffic and require drivers to turn right from the left hand lane. Yes it does sound up-side-down but take a moment to remember where you are. So here’s how it works: If you want to turn right at an intersection which is denoted with a ‘Hook Turn’ sign, safely get into the left hand lane and enter the intersection. Once in the intersection slow to a stop in the far left hand side of the left hand lane (with your right indicator on). Wait for the traffic lights in front of your to turn red and, after checking over your right shoulder for other vehicles, complete your right turn into the intersecting road and continue as normal. If you are hiring a car ask the reception staff to explain it fully with examples.

6. Australia is a huge country and many remote country roads are long and rarely used. If you are using any of these remote roads be sure carry a supply of water and food in case of emergencies. If your vehicle breaks down, never, never, never (did I say “NEVER”) leave your vehicle. Search crews are more likely to be able to find you with your vehicle than if your decide to head off on foot and expose yourself to the often extremely high day-time and low night-time temperatures.

7. Finally, Australia is a great country to travel and discover with your own vehicle. Whilst the items above may make driving in Australia sound dangerous, they are just some of the little challenges we face as travellers when visiting any country which is not our own. They are more about saying be cautious when driving in an unfamiliar environment and return home safely with some great tales of driving on the wrong side of the road!

Australia is well represented by a number of hire car companies including the well know Budget Car Hire and DriveNow . There are also a number of other operators who can provide everting from small cars to large fully self contained motorhomes and transport vehicles.

Sun Yat Sen Residence – Home Of The &”Father Of China&” http://balashiha.su/?p=8057 http://balashiha.su/?p=8057#respond Mon, 29 Aug 2011 17:36:30 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=8057 Sun Yat Sen Residence – Home Of The &”Father Of China&”

Little would one suspect that the quaint little European style house on Xiangshan Road was the former home of the man the Chinese consider to be the father of their Nation. The Sun Yat Sen residence is barely noticeable among the giant skyscrapers that have sprung up alongside it; however, it is a place that almost every tourist to Shanghai remembers to visit.

Sun Yat Sen was a fierce anti-monarchist and he was instrumental in the revolutionary struggle against the Qing dynasty, which was the final imperial family to rule China. In 1912 after overthrowing of imperial rule, Sun Yat Sen ensured his place in the history books when he became the first provisional president of the Republic of China. He later went onto found the Kuomintang of China, also known as the Chinese Nationalist Party, which became a guiding light for the future of the country in its pos- imperial era.

Despite a successful revolution against the monarchy, the party was unable to maintain control of the country. Therefore, much of Sun Yat Sen’s political life was spent in exile. Despite these setbacks, he organized numerous revolts against the Chinese warlords who threw him into exile and the Kuomintang out of power.

His tireless efforts bore fruit, but alas only after his death, with his party forming an alliance with the Communists to finally bring stability to China, following years of warring over territory by regional warlords. Today, Sun Yat Sen’s legacy lives on in his political doctrine “The Principals of People”: nationalism, democracy and the livelihood of people.

Following the death of Sun Yat Sen in 1925, his wife continued to occupy the residence until the Imperial Japanese invasion of Shanghai in 1937. The furniture, the paintings and the memorabilia over the fireplace are all items that were used by Sun Yat Sen himself. Historical manuscripts and photographs detailing the life and times of the great man are also displayed for the benefit of the public. This important historical landmark located close to the financial district  appear within easy reach of business accommodation Shanghai such as a Luxury serviced residence Shanghai offered by Somerset Xu Hui.  Their serviced apartments in the area affords business travelers great access to the city’s business district as well as the city’s major attractions.

Money Saving While on Holiday http://balashiha.su/?p=6304 http://balashiha.su/?p=6304#respond Sat, 30 Jul 2011 04:13:50 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=6304 Money Saving While on Holiday

As a child, I used to holiday in self catering accommodation with my parents. We’d hire a caravan for a week on one of those holiday parks. Check out http://www.travelglobal.co.uk/Self-Catering-Articles.php

I used to enjoy the environment as there was a pool and slot machines nearby, not to mention the beach and a small harbour where I went fishing.  They used to be fantastic holidays!

One of the things I remember is my parents cooking dinner. It was like home from home and I enjoyed it. I don’t think any child really enjoys eating out in restaurants like an adult does and anyway, the facilities you find these days for children, didn’t really exist in those days. I always deem myself lucky for those happy days. I would certainly recommend self catering for families.

We used to have a large breakfast in our self catering accommodation, then at lunch time, we would have something very light. For dinner, we would either eat out or have dinner where we were staying. As an adult now, I have done the same, and it works out quite a money saver. Of course, I didn’t have a large breakfast if I was going swimming in the morning!

To save money when I’m on holiday now, I usually eat in pubs as they tend to offer the best value for food. Without a shadow of doubt, eating out is the bulk of your spending on holidays, and this can be controlled quite easily without affecting your enjoyment.

Ripley's Aquarium Myrtle Beach — A Day in Ray Bay http://balashiha.su/?p=7319 http://balashiha.su/?p=7319#respond Tue, 21 Jun 2011 02:31:46 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=7319 Ripley's Aquarium Myrtle Beach — A Day in Ray Bay

Grab your trunks, scoop up your family, and head to Ripley’s Aquarium Myrtle Beach for a chance to swim alongside some of nature’s most exotic undersea fauna!
Stingray aficionados and brave young marine explorers alike have discovered a sweet spot in their quest for an up close and personal experience at Ripley’s Aquarium Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.  At Ripley’s Aquarium (yes, that’s the same Ripley’s that does Believe It Or Not), a beautiful stingray environment hosts southern rays, spotted eagle rays, and guitarfish in a child-friendly setup that lets all comers swim with the rays.
Stingrays, despite the dangerous sounding name, are generally docile and prefer to flee from a disturbance rather than attack it — making them excellent first companions for young swimmers.  Even better, because rays in the wild have a startling ability to hide themselves under sand and silt, environments like the one in Ripley’s Aquarium Myrtle Beach offer a rare opportunity to watch these unique creatures undulate through the waters.
The controlled environment also prevents swimmers from accidentally stepping on a stingray — the number one cause of stingray attacks.  While even the rays at Ripley’s have venomous stingers, the safety of the habitat combined with the socialization of the rays (they’re accustomed to human company) makes for a completely safe experience.  No swimmer has ever been stung in the Myrtle Beach aquarium’s Ray Bay.
Some rays have powerful jaws meant to crack open shellfish, and because stingrays have eyes on the topsides of their flat bodies, but mouths on the bottom, they don’t always know what they’re munching on.  The danger of being bitten is minimal as long as you obey the cardinal rule of ray-petting: keep your hands on the top side of the ray.  That way, the rays know what is touching them, and you keep your hand away from the dangerous parts.
Of course, all of these rules are covered and enforced by the Ripley’s Aquarium Myrtle Beach staff, who are intimately familiar with the animals and their tendencies.  With the well-trained and observant guides on duty, the humans are kept safe from the animals and vice versa.
Ray Bay is available as a walk-around exhibit for aquarium-goers, and the chance to pet a ray is granted to standard customers as well, but the true Ray Bay experience can only be obtained via a special pass.  Explorers who invest in a Ray Bay pass will get a behind-the-scenes tour of Ray Bay and the rest of the aquarium, a once-in-a-lifetime chance to swim with and feed the rays, plus some special souvenirs.  And stingray fans that have their dive certification can participate in a special dive into the ray’s special sanctum — the depths of the Myrtle Beach aquarium’s Ray Bay.
The next time you’re wondering what to do on a rainy day, or your junior aquanauts are seeking something exciting to occupy an afternoon, give them an experience that they’ll never forget: send them to the rays.  Ripley’s Aquarium Myrtle Beach will make them feel like the bravest explorers in the seas.

The story of Seven Summits http://balashiha.su/?p=8625 http://balashiha.su/?p=8625#respond Wed, 06 Apr 2011 18:52:23 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=8625 The story of Seven Summits

Every history has got a story. Of course stories are the instruments that narrate history. Likewise the history behind the origin of seven summits has also got several stories to speak up. This article will summarize those stories and reveals you with the real reasons for naming these mountains so.
Before to enter with the matter one should have a clear idea about the members of the Seven summits. Well the Seven summits really denotes the seven highest peaks each one representing one of the seven continents in the world. We all knew that the seven continents that are existing right now can be listed out in the descending order on basis of their area as: ASIA, AFRICA, NORTH AMERICA, SOUT AMERICA, ANTARCTICA, EUROPE and AUSTRALIA
Belonging to any one of the continents listed above, Seven summits can be listed as:
– Aconcagua
– Carstensz Pyramid
– Kilimanjaro
– Elbrus
– Denali
– Vinson
– Mount Everest
Starting with Aconcagua which represents the continent South America, the story of it seems to be quite confusing as records say there are three reasons behind it’s naming. On linguistic grounds it is believed that the name of this peak is derived from “Quechuan” language which is the combination of two words “Ackhon Cahuak” and “Anco Cahuac”. The words are not of fancy and they really mean “Sentinel of stone” and “White Sentinel”. Mean while the ancient people of Andes called the “Mapuches”, named as “Aconca- Hue” which means “Comes from the other side”.
Carstensz Pyramid which is probably now known as Puncak Jaya, this mountain is located on the island of New Guinea and stands as the highest peak in Indonesia. This mountain was named Carstensz Pyramid by a Dutch explorer Jan Carstensz in the year 1623 who, when he returned to Europe, was almost punished for claiming that there was a mountain near the equator with snow on it. The present name of the mountain is Puncak Jaya which came about in the 1960s when Indonesia took over control. The name was first changed to Puncak Soekarno after the president of Indonesia, but was later changed to Puncak Jaya, Jaya meaning ‘victorious’ or ‘glorious’.
In the North East Tanzania lies the Mount Kilimanjaro which is the highest free-standing mountain in the world. The exact meaning of the word Kilimanjaro is unknown as it is thought to be a mixture of the Swahili and Kichagga languages.
Elbrus which represents the continent of Europe has the pride to be the highest peak of Europe. The mere translation of Elbrus in the Arabic language is “Surprise; surprise; White mountain”.
The Denali range is the highest peak of North America which is exactly located in Alaska. The name is discovered by the natives of Alaska called the “Athabaskans” which means “The Great one”.
The Vinson range is located in the freezing Antarctica. It is officially given this name by the US advisory committee on Arctic names due to great financial support of the congressman Carl Vinson.
The Everest needs no introductions as we all know it seems to be one of nature’s wonders. Many interesting stories swirl around when we put ourselves in discovering the origin of it’s name. of all the valuable fact is that this highest range acquires it’s name from “Colonel George Everest” who was the chief of the surveyor who actually measured the real height of this peak to this world.

Enjoy the Pleasures of Life Like Never-before http://balashiha.su/?p=3094 http://balashiha.su/?p=3094#respond Sat, 06 Nov 2010 15:48:01 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=3094 Enjoy the Pleasures of Life Like Never-before!

Can you guess an efficient source of refreshing thoughts and methods? The first option that comes to our minds is a refreshing holiday with the near and dear ones. A holiday vacation offers immense benefits apart from just exploring new places. It can rejuvenate your tired mind and soul besides bringing you closer to your friends, family members, relatives and colleagues. The list of benefits goes on and on. However, the benefits may vary from individual-to-individual and situation-to-situation.

If you want to come out of the long-standing shackles of boredom and monotonous life, there is no substitute for the holiday vacation packages. The information about these holiday packages is easily available on the Internet and you can also look for it from your nearest tour operator. Whatever your choice may be, you must ensure that the sole purpose of the holiday package is not defeated.

Let us study both the traditional and online holiday packages to get a complete insight into its working. The online mode allows you to avail cheap holiday packages besides ensuring complete convenience to you when it comes to ticket booking and hotel reservations. The cheap holiday packages by online portals allow you to take complete control of your holiday vacations besides showering you with great travel and reservation discounts.

On the other hand, the traditional mode is more complex in its nature and is somehow outdated in the present day scenario. The greatest drawbacks of traditional mode are the dependency on touts and hefty associated prices. An individual getting his holidays planned through the Internet (online mode) is relieved from the presence of touts and since there is no middlemen in the entire process, all the benefits are passed to the customers by the online tour operators.

So, if you are planning to enjoy the cheap holiday packages in the near future, you know what mode is suitable for you. Get your priorities clear and straight and look for the best deal. Do not forget to bargain since that will fetch you a “better” deal. After you get the right deal for yourself, don’t just wait thinking about the worldly tensions. Just enjoy yourself!

The Best National Parks in Kenya http://balashiha.su/?p=8327 http://balashiha.su/?p=8327#respond Wed, 06 Oct 2010 22:40:51 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=8327 The Best National Parks in Kenya

A National Park is an area of land controlled and maintained by the government for recreational benefits, usually to help wildlife and nature thrive. Kenya boasts 35 National Parks and Reserves which are maintained by Kenya Wildlife Service. As well as overseeing the running of the reserves, KWS also act as the security in the parks to cut down on poachers and illegal activity. The entrance fee money collected at park gates goes back in to the conservation of the reserves.

The purpose of this article is to guide you through some of the best National Parks and National Reserves in Kenya, which should help to give you a good of potential additions to your safari itinerary if you are considering visiting Kenya in the future.

Masai Mara National Reserve

The Masai Mara is the Kenyan extension of the Serengeti, Tanzania. It remains to be the most popular reserve in Kenya due to its large population of animals, which include the ‘big five’ (lion, black rhino, elephants, cape buffalo and leopard), crocodile, hippo, gazelle, giraffe as well as many varieties of birds, including secretary bird, masai ostrich, tawny eagle and grey-headed kingfisher. The Mara is also famous as the location of where one of the most natural wonders of the world take place, the ‘great migration’. The migration sees over one million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle making their annual anti-clockwise trip from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara plains in search of fresh pastures to graze upon. It really does make great viewing to watch the migration from the comfort of a luxurious safari lodge.

Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru, known as the ‘sea of pink’ to many who have visited it before is one of the sode lakes of the Great Rift Valley. It gets its nickname as it is often a mass area of pink, made up of millions of flamingo. The park also is home to 25 rare black rhino, which are fenced in to the park to help protect them and encourage their breeding developments.

Amboseli National Park

Amboseli is the second most popular park in Kenya just after the Masai Mara. It remains to be a special park due to the huge herds of elephants that inhabit the park. Another speciality of Amboseli that other reserves can’t claim to have is the back drop of Kilimanjaro that overlooks the park, on a clear day you can catch the perfect photography moment of one of the ‘big five’ making their way past the mountains back drop.
