Tourists With Disabilities http://balashiha.su/?p=9382 http://balashiha.su/?p=9382#respond Wed, 16 Nov 2011 16:15:00 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=9382 Tourists With Disabilities

And many game reserves and places of interest have specially adapted accommodation and wheelchair-friendly facilities and walks. Many short trails also have Braille interpretation plaques.

Flamingo Tours specialises in tours for people with disabilities.

You would be amazed what some wheelchair-dependent people have done in South Africa – abseiled off Table Mountain; dared the highest bungy jump in the world at Bloukrans Bridge; tubed the awesome Storms River Gorge; hiked most of the Outeniqua Trail (this was a hard one); flown a microlight; and learned to scuba dive. The sky’s the limit. Oh yes, and skydived. (This was not all done by the same person!)

Accessible opportunities in the natural environment

South African National Parks, as national assets, should be accessible destinations to everyone regardless of their mental, sensory or physical capabilities.

The Delta Environmental Centre (Gauteng Province)has the 180metre long Sasol Sensory Trail which was initially conceptualised as a short environmental education trail for disabled people. Through consultation with Eco-Access, it was finally designed as an accessible interactive environmental education experience for the hundreds of learners who pass through the Centre on a weekly basis, including learners who happen to be disabled.
The trail is simple, paved, has wide pathways and many interesting stopping points. It blends in with the surrounding environment and is based on the fact that the Centre offers personal interpretation to all groups that visit it.

The de Wildt Cheetah and Wildlife Centre (North West Province) has a programme called ‘Reach for the Wild’. An accessible trail, named the ‘Rob and Julie Filmer Sensory Trail’, allows all people, including disabled people, the opportunity to experience the African bush. It was also initially conceptualised as a trail for disabled people but now forms the basis of all de Wildt’s environmental education programmes. The environmental education centre is accessible and available for all those who participate in these programmes. Again, this Centre benefits from personal interpretation of the environment being offered to all groups.

SANParks Boulders Beach Boardwalk (Western Cape) is another example where everyone has the opportunity to visit the penguins on the beach using the boardwalk.
Owing to negative pressure from the surrounding community, parking and access to the boardwalk is extremely difficult without prior arrangements being made. However, once on the boardwalk, anyone can use it.

For many other trails and programmes in various parts of South Africa see Eco-Access, including, apart from those mentioned above, the Rob Filmer Lichen Trail at the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve in the Mpumalanga province, the Rhino Trail at the Berg-en-Dal camp at the Kruger National Park in the Mpumalanga province, the Fossil Trail at the Karroo National Park in the Northern Cape province, the PPC Discovery trail at the Addo Elephant National Park in the Eastern Cape province, the Dragonfly walkway and Jacana Bridge and the Kingfisher Birdhide at the Nylsvley Nature Reserve in the Limpopo province, The Palmiet Hiking Trail at the Hottentots Holland Nature reserve in the Western Cape Province and the bird hide and walkway at the Blesbokspruit Nature reserve in the Gauteng Province.

Going to Africa for family holiday destination http://balashiha.su/?p=4032 http://balashiha.su/?p=4032#respond Fri, 22 Jul 2011 21:58:19 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=4032 Going to Africa for family holiday destination

Wildlife has been one of the top favourite destinations to go these days. Family holiday to Africa is a perfect choice for all the member of family to enjoy. It would be the most enjoyable for children as they can see “Lion King” on their own naked eyes. It is different from zoo where most of the animals are in cage, you and your family can view the wildlife in Africa in their own natural habitat and also educational for your children.

Do check the hotel deals before you book for your Africa hotel.

One of the top destinations for wildlife spotting in Africa is in East Africa, Kenya. In fact, Kenya is said to be ” the Jewel of East Africa”. After you and your family has decided to go to Kenya, you must experience the national reserve.

I have chosen 3 of the famous National reserve in Kenya; Masai Mara National Reserve, Samburu National Reserve and Amboseli National Park. Masai Mara has been the more desirable destination of wildlife reserve in Kenya. It has many of the famous wildlife such as lions, crocodiles, wildebeest, buffalo, leopard, elephants, cheetah, hyena and many more. One day in Masai Mara is not enough to see it all and in fact, the reserve might attract you and your family to keep going back again. If you are lucky, you can spot thousand of animals during your visit. If you want to see the whole Masai Mara and explore futher, there is other option; taking balloon safari. Samburu Reserve and Amboseli national park is top choice for East Africa family outing too.

If you were to visit South Africa, Kruger National Park is the most famous attraction. Kruger National Park has hundreds of different spicies of birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and fish. See all the top 5 animals of Kruger National Park; elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino and leopard.

You and your family can also drive yourself in the park. Your family is sure to be all busying spotting animals during the trip. Other than the Kruger National Park, South Africa also offer a lot other fun activities for family holiday.

Golden Reef city is where you can find all the entertainment for families; casino, theme park which also offer one of the thrillers ride in the world, and unique Apartheid museum, that is a must see. Visit also Table mountains, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Sun City (which is famous for massive Valley of Waves waterparks), Cape Pint, V & A Waterfront, Robben island (where Nelson Mandela is held in prison), view African penguins at Boulders beach, Two Oceans aquarium. Visit Africa to have amazing experience that you might only experience together with your family once in a lifetime. Africa is one of the best destinations for perfect, memorable family holiday with the remarkable wildlife, beautiful scenery and fantastic family friendly resort or hotel. Do not forget to bring your camcorder and your camera during your travel to East Africa or South Africa.

During your travel, you might want to make a call and share your travel experience. Use phone card or calling card to save on the calls.

Pay a Visit to the Miami Seaquarium http://balashiha.su/?p=6822 http://balashiha.su/?p=6822#respond Fri, 17 Jun 2011 00:05:08 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=6822 Pay a Visit to the Miami Seaquarium

Miami has so much for you to see and do it can be difficult to find a place to begin. But regardless of whether you are visiting with the family or just on your own, you should definitely make time to see the Miami Seaquarium.

This is a huge venue that takes up nearly forty acres of land and it is very easy to reach from downtown Miami. The best thing about it is that it provides an educational visit as well as one that everyone really enjoys. You’ll certainly leave knowing a lot more about marine mammals and fish than you did when you arrived.

There are various shows which form a part of the entertainment you can look forward to on the day. For example you can watch a killer whale take part in a special show that gives you an idea of the sheer size and skills it has. And of course no visit would be complete without seeing the dolphins showing off their incredible intelligence. You may not know that the dolphin pool was used in the filming of the famous television show, “Flipper”, as well.

Make sure you grab a map as you enter the Miami Seaquarium, as this will show you where all the exhibits and shows are. You can then plan a route round the venue that takes in all the show times as well as the rest of the exhibits.

There is a sea lion show there too, which always draws the crowds as it tends to be quite amusing to watch. Salty the sea lion definitely likes playing to a crowd, so make sure you go along to see the display.

The Seaquarium is really a half day out experience, and when you need to stop for a break you will find plenty of places to do just that. There are eating places and seating areas provided along the way, so you can enjoy seeing everything and taking time out for a bite to eat as well. The park is nicely spread out and no matter which route you take you will see everything you need to see without missing anything out.

As well as the more traditional sea lions and dolphins, you can also come up close to crocodiles and alligators while you are in the park. It’s all quite safe of course, but it will probably still send shivers up your spine!

If you want to stay in downtown Miami you will find lots of Miami hotels that you can book a room in. This is an ideal position from which to enjoy everything that Miami has to offer, including the Miami Seaquarium and all the creatures it holds within.

How to Have a Cheap Vacation With Children http://balashiha.su/?p=4937 http://balashiha.su/?p=4937#respond Fri, 18 Feb 2011 06:26:30 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=4937 How to Have a Cheap Vacation With Children

When you are single, it is easy to have a cheap vacation. If you want to travel somewhere and do not want to pay for a hotel room, you can simply backpack and camp out. If you are looking to go abroad, you can stay in a hotel and save tons of money. But once you have children, it becomes much more difficult to book a cheap vacation. Children have special needs, especially young ones, and can often turn a camping trip that would be relaxing into a nightmare. There are some ways, however, to make a vacation for the whole family a cheap vacation.

Look for packages

When you are vacationing and looking for a cheap vacation, many hotels will offer a package deal that you can use. These deals might include sight seeing tours or babysitting services. One of the ways to find these package deals is to constantly look for them, but many hotels will allow you to sign up on their email mailing list. This will allow them to contact you whenever they have a special going on, making it easier to book a cheap vacation.

Look to the State

Most of us forget about state parks and other state offers that pop up, often because these state amusements do not have the same type of public relations people that the more expensive places do. If you are looking for a cheap vacation, why not take your children to a national museum or a park? These places are often very inexpensive to visit and are educational as well, allowing you to spend money on your room while saving money on your activities.

Rent a House

If you are looking for a cheap vacation and you have a number of children, or if you are going on vacation with a number of other people, why not rent a house?  There are tons of different vacation homes and cottages that can be rented, saving you money and giving you a cheap vacation.  For instance, some hotels cost $200 a night, and you may be able to rent a cottage that is large enough for your entire family, or for you and some friends, for $600 for the entire week. This would save you over half of what you would have spent if you rented a hotel room. This is a great way to get a cheap vacation and to have great accommodations while you are at it, and most cottages and cabins are perfect for children, giving you the privacy many children require.

It is not impossible to have a cheap vacation when you have children, you just need to learn to think outside of the box.  Do not always look for a cheap vacation from the mainstream hotel owners and vacation guides, but instead look for a cheap vacation in the places that you would never think to look. Ask other parents what their secret is and, as always, never be afraid to consult with the internet in order to see what other people are doing to get a cheap vacation for the entire family.

More than half (51%) of us are planning a vacation this summer. Even more if we’re among the affluent and young professionals. According to the latest American Express Spending & Saving Tracker,  we plan to spend an average of $1,000 per person on summer travel.

Parents, are planning  to arrange summer activities for their children and plan to spend an average of $600 per child. This month’s American Express Spending & Saving Tracker  sample of 2,000 adults included the general U.S. population, and two subgroups — the affluent and young professionals.

“The summer vacation, and particularly, the family vacation is alive and well this year,” said Audrey Hendley, vice president of American Express Travel.

Vacations with Family and Friends

Family trips will be most popular (52%), a variety of other vacation types are being planned, including:

Couples trips (26%)

Trips with friends such as “girlfriend getaways” and “mancations” (10%)

A “staycation”–intending to enjoy time off and attractions near home (11%)

Experiential or adventure vacations such as a culinary retreat or hiking trip (7%)

Educational vacations (4%)

Of those taking a summer vacation, most  will stay within the U.S., with destinations in the South (31%) and Northeast (29%) being the most popular vacation destinations. A smaller percentage of consumers (16%) plan to travel outside of the U.S., primarily to the Caribbean (6%), Canada (5%), and Europe (4%). Affluents (19%) are more likely to venture outside of the U.S. and young professionals (29%) are twice as likely as the general population to do so.

People without summer vacation plans this year cited several factors. Among those people:

44 percent said they had not saved for a vacation

18 percent plan to spend on family necessities.

Why is Orlando Florida a great place http://balashiha.su/?p=10829 http://balashiha.su/?p=10829#respond Sat, 04 Sep 2010 07:23:32 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=10829 Why is Orlando Florida a great place?

Why is Orlando Florida a great place?

There are many answers to that question; Orlando is one of those special places that you simply must go to at some point in your life, why I hear you say? the answer is simple it is full of unique attractions. There is everything from watching spectacular killer whales perform mind boggling maneuvers with their human trainers to experiencing the awesome site of Dinosaurs feeding in a tropical forest landscape. It is one of those very special places in the World, where there is something to do for everyone, it is simply awesome.

Theme parks

These are the main tourist attraction in Orlando Florida, they are simply superb, and I cannot think of any reason why you shouldn’t make them your first port of call. There is something to do for every member of your family, which must be why they are so popular.

People say that Walt Disney World especially the Magic Kingdom is just for children, how wrong they can be, Lynn and I have sat next to people in their 70’s who absolutely love the theme park’s, its not unique to see an octogenarian getting a cuddle from Mickey Mouse.

Epcot is thought provoking for us adults, and a constant source of education, fun, and entertainment for children. Where else could you see modern crop propagation along side a Pirate battle taking place on the high sea in the Caribbean?

Disney Animal Kingdom is very special, you will be amazed at the mix of attractions from complex animatronics to watching wild animals in a natural environment, and you actually feel as if you are on an African Safari.

Disney Hollywood studios brings the frill and excitement of the big screen right to you, experience the death defying stunts and carefully crafted movie rides, you can even be part of a gangster street fight played out by highly realistic automatons, meet  the Hollywood greats such as James Cagney and John Wayne.

What’s there to do when you’re not in the Parks… or its way after dark? Day or night at Downtown-Disney area, choose from dining with dinosaurs to a distinctly Disney shopping extravaganza to catching incredible live music and shows!

How many Disney-Characters can you spot? Make sure you take your autograph book and a camera, you never know who you will come across, and Brer Fox can be seen near Splash Mountain, in the Magic Kingdom!

Swim With Dolphins

Whilst you are on your Orlando-Florida-Holidays, it would be silly not to take a swim with the dolphins at somewhere like Discovery Cove. I did this not too long ago and it is something that I know I will never forget, it was a truly great experience. Many other holiday resorts have water parks for your entertainment, they attract many people every year and Orlando Florida is no exception, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon lagoon are Walt-Disney properties, Aquatica is located just across the road from Sea world.

Universal Studios, Wow is the best adjective to describe this source of entertainment, meet Spider Man and that terrifying Great White Shark portrayed in Jaws, and feel the fear as he rises out of the water.

Orlando Florida Holiday’s where else could you ride the Sheikra, The very first dive coaster in North America – and it’s a good one! 200 feet up, and then straight back down again at up to 70mph… with a 90 degree drop.

Sky above, earth below and nothing but a massive thrill in between? Busch Gardens

Planning Orlando Florida Holidays? Orlando offers a wide range of accommodation from

Cheap Hotels on International Drive to themed Disney properties such as Disney-All-Star-Movie resort, some of the best Hotels include the Caribbean Beach Resort right in the heart of the magic; remember staying at a Disney Resort offers complimentary transport to and from Disney Theme parks.
