Spirit has announced that it is “partnering with other air carrier providers to continue to serve our customers.”  No details have been provided as to which airlines Spirit is working with or whether the airline would only be able to fly a partial schedule in the event of a strike. It is an unusual step taken by an airline during a strike. It is unknown if in fact, the pilots of other carriers will support Spirit or if they will actually stand with the striking pilots.

The airline is engaged in final talks this week with its pilot representatives in Washington, D.C. at the National Mediation Board.  Although there appears to be progress in their talks, it remains to be seen if a strike can be averted.

Pilot contract negotiations have been going on for the last three years.  Spirit pilots earn less on average than pilots working for other discount airlines.  Spirit counters that it has offered its pilots double digit percentage salary increases but that the pilots are being unreasonable in their demands.

June 12th has been identified by Spirit pilots as “strike day” and has warned Spirit customers via billboards in Spirit’s three major hubs (Atlantic City, Detroit, and Ft. Lauderdale) of possible flight cancellations as of that day. This too is an unusual step, and it will be interesting to see if this changes the behaviors of their flying customers.

Spirit’s pilot union has announced that Spirit’s pilots are willing to go without paychecks if that is what it takes to get paid in a manner that reflects their true value.

All About Worldwide City-Traveling http://balashiha.su/?p=774 http://balashiha.su/?p=774#respond Sat, 23 Apr 2011 01:24:47 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=774 All About Worldwide City-Traveling

Our modern world is something very fantastic, when you look at all the travel opportunities we have, and all these many ways to ride. This world shines only beautiful and bright, what could be there a problem. And we have all these buses, trains, ships, airplanes, to get to any place in the entire world with ease.
What is the truth.
It is the individual, who decides, to go for a vacation, but actually many don’t. They think, spending money for it is pure luxury and staying at home would easily make up for it. But this is not completely true. Living all year long at home, with planning for new furniture, or saving for better car or TV, does not bring the necessary satisfaction. Real relaxation from stress, workload and all the other ongoing responsibilities, does not take place in making one’s home look better, putting up expensive wallpaper, or driving a more attractive car.
Personal relaxation is proven as being something complete different than just money, car or TV. It is a very intimate spiritual thing, and cannot get measured up with luxury. Relaxation is, where one is alone or with one’s family and has lots of time together. It will create new joy and happiness with talking about things, never said since a long time. It may happen to be the very first moment, where daddy really talks freely to his children and is finding out by surprise, that the son is not as good in Math and needs some help. The wife is happy since ever, realizing that everybody is together, getting close attention, and here and there a kiss with some very lovely whispered words. This all did not happen since a long time. It is the moment, a family can re-union and makes new plans for the next year. This is much better, than any other plan made during the entire year, only for one’s job or for a WAL-Mart shopping cart.
This is the truth. Now let’s see, what can be really done.
An educated person knows, that there are several very different possibilities, how to spend vacation time most wisely. One should know them and choose the one, which fits best to the interests and also circumstances of the family. There should be a talk with all together after dinner.
Where does everybody wants to go, and how many people is it. Does the majority want to swim and lay sunbathing on a beach, or do they want to swim, but also climb the mountains? What will be the best destination? Flight tickets for a family, might be more expensive than just the gasoline for a car, but it might waste lots of valuable vacation time, driving there. But an intelligent evaluation on all the asked for travel possibilities will then discover, what is the best deal for this year, with the most fun and variety, everybody would like to enjoy.
The main actions for selecting the right destination from several offers of real value, are
1. Sitting together and talking about everybody’s ideas and personal likings.
2. To get an overall agreement, what the best solution is for a decent destination.
3. The money has to be somehow made available, so one can book and pay.
4. The tickets and plans are in everybody’s hands now, waiting for the adventurous trip to happen.
An ideal solution can be beaches, where Florida has some very excellent locations for that, or let’s take a cruise, the offers are pretty cheap and the environment of a ship can give you an exciting change in atmosphere. If you are able to spend some more money, then go more international. Europe is the most attractive area for having the most beautiful cities and places, and one can learn about other exciting civilizations and people.
But the main point is, you take your family this year and go. Surprise them all a bit with some exotic hotel and flight booking.

Cheep Car Rental Larnaca Reviews http://balashiha.su/?p=2175 http://balashiha.su/?p=2175#respond Sat, 15 Jan 2011 03:30:12 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=2175 Cheep Car Rental Larnaca Reviews

Considered as one of most prospective cities in the realm of Cyprus, notable island in the eastern Mediterranean, the fame of Larnaca is increasing by leaps and bounds. The city of Larnaca is located on the southern coast of Cyprus, the second largest commercial port in the realm of Cyprus, and happens to be an important tourist resort as well.
There are lots of attractions in Larnaca too. In accordance with historians, Cyprus happens to be one of the most religious countries in the realm of European Union and is, at the moment, under the aegis of both Greek Orthodox Church of Cyprus and Turkish Cypriots, adherents of Sunni Islam, all at once. The historians are found to claim also that Larnaca has been one of the best witnesses of the struggle between these two commendable concepts. As a result, Larnaca must contain an assortment of edifices related to these two religions. Is it so? Let’s see!
Major attractions in Larnaca
* Without a doubt, the foremost attraction in Larnaca happens to be the ruins of Ancient Kitium. This is nothing else save for the earliest architectural remains and as indicated by historians, it does date back to the 13th century B.C. It must be stated that the area was rebuilt under the auspices of Achaean Greeks. You can still come across remains of the Cyclopean Walls, consisting of massive blocks along with the complex of five temples.
* Marble Bust of Zeno, standing at the crossings close to the American Academy, deserves special mentions. Zeno, if the history is taken into account, was born in Kition (ancient Larnaca) and it was in 334 BC. He was responsible for establishing the globally acclaimed Stoic school of philosophy.
* Never forget to make a visit to the underground chapel of Ayia Phaneromeni, located amongst monument of Zeno and Salt Lake on the right. The underground chapel is by and large a rock cavern with two chambers and probably dates back to Phoenician times. What is most striking, this place is known for a range of magical properties.
* Gear up to visit Hala Sultan Tekke containing tomb of Umm Haram, the foster mother of Prophet Mohammed. As per scores of Muslim historical accounts, Umm Haram cashed in her chips here in 647 A.D.

Dublin, Ireland at Christmas http://balashiha.su/?p=2916 http://balashiha.su/?p=2916#respond Sat, 03 Jul 2010 13:02:41 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=2916 Dublin, Ireland at Christmas

If you are planning on visting Dublin for Christmas make sure that you are either staying with friends or family, staying at a hotel that is going to be open or renting a self catering property like those advertised on jmlvillas.com

Unlike France, Italy or England it is very difficult to actually eat out, or even get a drink on Christmas day. The reason is that traditionally it is a day when a family is meant to be together.

I tried in both 2007 and 2008 to find a restaurant or hotel that was open for Christmas lunch. It is nearly impossible.

Most hotels close early afternoon on Christmas Eve and don’t usually open again till lunchtime on the day after St Stephens Day (Boxing day) the 27th. The pubs will close early on Christmas Eve and some will open on St Stephens Day. Many Guest Houses and ned and breakfast establishments also closed.
A lot of bar staff in Ireland used to be members of a union and it was agreed therefore that pubs would not open. Although the situation with staff will have changed a lot today, the same rules apply to opening. They don’t!!
I discovered that a hotel in Drumcondra on the way to the airport is open for Christmas Lunch, however their arrangements included a small entertainment variety show. A hotel that is part of an American chain was open as well in the centre for a 4 course brucnh. The price quoted was 160 euro per person without drink or service charges. They had two sittings and if you were a family of five after spending nearly a thouand euro taking the first sitting you would have to vaccate quite quickly to let the second sitting take over.
Another hotel in the centre near Grafton Street that is Irish owned was also open, but by coincidence the price was exactly the same.
Looking outside Dublin, hotels around the country that were open and took guests for 2 or 3 nights were generally much more expensive than they would normally be. I stayed at a fabulous hotel on the west coat for the second time last June. Like the others I discovered their Christmas break prices had gone up considerably.
With the credit crunch biting hard in Ireland, it will be interesting to see if this changes for Christmas 2009.
If you are thinking of taking a break in Ireland over Christmas all of this is worth considering as the only place you might find open on Christmas day is the odd Chinese restaurant or petrol service station.

Travel Guide Book Explores Boston Travel http://balashiha.su/?p=9510 http://balashiha.su/?p=9510#respond Tue, 18 May 2010 21:52:51 +0000 http://balashiha.su/?p=9510 Travel Guide Book Explores Boston Travel

Whether you’re an American on vacation, or you’re planning a holiday in the United States, Boston, Massachusetts is a city that you might want to visit.

It doesn’t have the Broadway plays and glitzy shopping of New York City down the coast, but this city is steeped in United States history… as in the “Boston Tea Party” steeped in history. OK Enough for bad puns.

It is one of the oldest cities in the United States…. founded in 1630 by the pilgrims from England if you really want to know. (Not the pilgrims that come over on the Mayflower to Plymouth, by the way.)

During the United States Revolution several major battles took place here… the Battle of Bunker Hill is one of the most famous. The Battles of Lexington and Concord were fought nearby. It was from the Old North Church that Paul Revere took his famous “midnight ride” crying the warning of the approach of the British….. As the poem goes,

“…One if by land, and two if by sea;

And I on the opposite shore will be,

Ready to ride and spread the alarm

Through every Middlesex village and farm…..”

Walk the Freedom Trail. This two and a half mile route will help you get acquainted with the city and efficiently visit many of the city’s historic landmarks. Allow yourself at least three hours for this tour… a full day to really see everything would be better. If walking isn’t for you, there are trolley tours that will let you hop on and hop off at the sites.

Stroll through the historic Public Garden. It is adjacent to the Boston Common and is the nation’s oldest botanical garden. Ride one of the famous Swan Boats… Locals and visitors have been riding in them during the summer months since 1877.

See the Faneuil Hall marketplace… also known as Quincy market. For over 250 years, the marketplace has played an integral role in the life of this city’s residents. This indoor-outdoor market is still a great place for shopping and dining.

Eat in the Union Oyster House, the city’s oldest restaurant. Walk through the “burying grounds”, the cemeteries. You can find the graves of several famous early Americans.

Visit the colleges and universities… there are several in the area. Harvard, just across the Charles River in Cambridge might be the most famous. It is the oldest institution of higher learning in the U.S. You can also visit, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Brandeis University among a couple of dozen others nearly as well known.

In the summertime, sit on the green along the Charles River and listen to the Boston Pops play in the Hatch Shell… a wonderful free concert. If you’re there for the July 4th concert you’ll hear Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture complete with cannons and fireworks. (You’ll need to be there plenty early for that popular concert!)

Boston has great museums, and there are more across the river in Cambridge around Harvard. There are sports teams for baseball, basketball, football and ice hockey fans, and there is always shopping.

It’s a great starting point to explore the USA’s New England states. With all it has going for it, give Boston a look when you’re making travel plans.
