Barcelona’s Famous Gay Nightlife

Barcelona has attracted gay visitors for a number of years now and offers a lively and stylish scene. The main gay area of Barcelona is called L-Eixample or Gayxample and can be found a few blocks North West from Las Ramblas. It is a great area with beautiful Barcelona hotels and Barcelona apartments. It all centres around Calle Casanova. Barcelona is very diverse as a city; however, so gay people are welcomed everywhere. Nightlife is a late affair in Barcelona – people don’t go out to eat until about 10pm, bars start to get busy around midnight and clubs open at about 3am.  

Clubs
Clubs in Barcelona tend to open late at around 3am. Entrance tickets usually include a drink from the bar. The clubs are located in a convenient distance from any Look out for flyers being handed out in the street as these will often give you free entry or a free drink. You should note during your Barcelona holidays that clubs in Barcelona can be expensive!

Metro is one of the best known gay clubs in Barcelona. The music ranges from contemporary to old school, there are regular live performances from drag artists and other live performers. The club has its own large dark room too.

The Arena group of clubs has a number of offerings for gay clientele including:

Arena Sala Madre which often has wild and exciting live shows.

Arena Classic – this club appeals to a slightly older clientele and has a reputation for attracting the best looking guys. It is known for playing &”petarda&” music.

Arena Diana started out as a lesbian club but is now one of the best loved clubs for either sex.

Sunday night is Gay Day at Space. This is an absolutely fantastic gay night. Women are not allowed in. Stay in a cheap Barcelona hotel and enjoy the nightlife! 

Restaurants
Restaurants tend to get busy so it is advisable to book when you plan to spend your holiday in Barcelona. In Barcelona it is the norm to go out to eat at about 10pm. Recommended gay restaurants include:

Miranda – Dinner drag show, 40s decor 

Nao Colon – Restaurant with a club atmosphere, Catalan cuisine

Porquesi – Latin American and Caribbean fusion, chill out music

Rodamon – Buffet and live show

Sazzerak – Terrace, international menu and cocktails

The gay scene in Barcelona is diverse and vibrant. No matter what you enjoy in a night out, Barcelona has something to offer. Stay in a hotel in Barcelona or in Barcelona holiday home and enjoy the dishes in the numerous restaurants.
