Canadians Put Their Money On Mexico

Guaranteed sunshine and swimming temperatures – with round-the-clock fun, relaxation and endless activities on a bleach white beach— are the main reasons Canadians continue to accept the deeply discounted deals offered on Mexico’s Yucatan, Baja and Pacific coastlines. But that’s just the beach.

Inland, the intriguing colonial cities of Guadalajara, Magdalena, Tequila, Morelia, and Oaxaca are eye-popping delightful, with the vibrancy of more than 60 indigenous cultures. According to the media members in the Canadian chapter of SATW (Society of American Travel Writers) this winter Mexico is hot, it’s cheap, and fascinating. Information is online at www.visitmexico.com, highlighted with a snapshot like this:

Sunwing specializes in Mexico with flights from 18 Canadian gateways to the beaches of Cancun, Riviera Maya, Puerto Vallarta, Cozumel, Los Cabos, Huatulco, Ixtapa, Acapulco and Riviera Nayarit, with each of these destinations giving you an all-inclusive vacation. More information is available online at www.sunwing.ca.

Intrepid Travel takes you to Mexico in quite a different way. Intrepid has a total of 15 itineraries, many in combination with the neighbouring countries of Central America. Durations are 10 to 46 days. Most exciting is the 15-day “Mexico Unplugged” itinerary where you will travel overland from Mexico City to Playa del Carmen taking in exotic Oaxaca and Palenque. This experiential combination is ideal for the curious traveler as it delivers a taste of timeless culture and history with snorkeling, beach, cuisine, tequila and cervesa. More information is available online at www.intrepidtravel.com.

How Not To Get The Cheapest Flight Tickets

It seems everyone is going on and on about how to get cheap flights and the best deals from the airlines. The emphasis is firmly on the means to getting these cheap flight tickets. Funny though, most people are doing things wrong. I mean, if people were getting it right, how come there are so many complaints and angry customers? Personally, I believe that a lot of people are been fed the wrong information such that they take the wrong turns when scouting for the elusive cheapest flight tickets. Well, it seems to me that there are some things that travelers need to know about cheap flight to Europe that do not work. In other words, the things they shouldn’t do when looking for means of getting cheapest airfare for their travels.
i. Avoid The Hype: There is far too much hype out there today with regards the issue of  cheap flight tickets. Personally, I find it a bit irritating because it has also become an avenue for people to get duped as many fake sites are taking advantage of unwary passengers. So, first things first, dump the hype and use your native intelligence to seek out the nice deals that can fetch you cheap holidays.
ii. Get Impatient: This is one of the most effective ways of missing out on a great deal. When you are impatient, you are likely to go for the very first deal that you come across. The major downside of doing so is that it will likely not be the best deal you will get. So, keep yourself in check by remembering to keep the bigger picture of the very best deal in mind.
iii. Avoid the Airlines Websites: A lot of people just keep looking for great deals on the sites belonging to third parties without even bothering to check out what the airlines have on their sites. The fact is that some of the best deals will be found on the airlines’ own sites. You will definitely find this true of many of the big airlines in Europe and the UK. I always advise that travelers visit the airline’s site to get the update on their prices.
iv. Be Inflexible: Again one of the surest ways of avoiding a good deal. People who are inflexible want things their own way and usually pay the price for it. You simply must be prepared to adjust to meet the fluidity of the market in order get that juicy ticket to drop on your lap. If you insist on travelling on a particular day or at a particular time, there is a likelihood of running in the direction opposite from the cheap ticket and the opportunity to compare holidays.
v. Keep Making Changes in Your Departure Date: It seems airlines get really annoyed when you alter the date of your departure after purchasing your ticket and so they impose a penalty. If you are planning for cheap flights to Dubai, you could very easily rack up a bill of $75 by just making a change in your departure date.Compare flight prices, make your booking and try to stick to it.

Getting ‘safely’ Through Airport Security

Want to get through airport security with time to spare?

To do that, you’ve got to know what the rules are.

If you have liquids/lotions (non-prescription) in bottles over 3 oz/100 ml, put them in your to-be-checked luggage. If you try to carry them on, chances are good the security agent will take them from you. If you need them, you can buy bottles of water/juice/soda after being cleared.

Leave at home the pocket knife and tools. Put them in our checked luggage if you need them at your destination.

For liquids that you want to take in your carry-on, get a one quart resealable bag. Each bottle/container must be less than 100 ml/3 fl oz. I take travel sized items, such as toothpaste, shampoo, sunscreen, shaving cream, etc, to have for the first day or two. Then I go to a local supermarket and buy regular sized items for the remainder of the trip.

The first security person you approach will want to see your photo ID and boarding pass. Have them out and ready to show. Photo ID must be government issued like a driver’s license or passport.

Don’t hog the area by the conveyer belt. Move aside as you put into the plastic bins all metal from your pockets, your shoes, your laptop, the one quart bag with liquids, jacket/purse/briefcase/etc. Use more than one bin if necessary. Keep in your hand the boarding pass and your photo ID.

If there is room on the table, push your tubs/carry-on along. Make room on the table for travelers behind you.

The security person on the other side of the metal detector will wave you through. Wait for this. NOW push your items onto the moving conveyer belt. You want to get through the metal detector before your belongings come out the other side of the xray machine.

Pick up your belongings and move out of the way. Put your jacket back on later. Take a chair to put your shoes back on. Now you can put everything away, except for your boarding pass, and head for your flight. Bon Voyage!

(What I’ve written here applies to security in US airports. I’ve been through several international airports in the past year and it is impossible to state what will or will not be allowed through airport security. And to make sure you are current on US airport security rules, just before you leave, check out the Transportation Security Administration traveler’s site. )

What You Should Be Doing In Disneyland – By Best Hotel Deals

After months of planning, you have finally arrived at your destination namely Disneyland. Now that you are here, it is time for you to enjoy everything it has to offer from the rides, the shows and the fireworks.

You better wake up early so you can be one of the first to enter the amusement park.  This is because there are not that many people but this will change in the afternoon.

Aurora Lillo Editor of the “Best Hotel Deals” website — http://www.BestHotelDeals.biz — pointed out;

“…Before you enter the park, be sure to read the bulletin board because it states what the waiting times are for the popular attractions, which of these are closed or undergoing maintenance and the times of shows and parades…”

Some of the attractions you shouldn’t miss in Disneyland include Animal Kingdom which features some wild animals and exotic plants, shows like Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for Buccaneer Gold, Lion King or a ride down Splash Mountain.

Of course there are other places to check out but if you are traveling with kids, make sure that the attraction is suitable for their age.

You can skip the line though by use a Fastpass ticket which is free and cuts down the waiting time so you can spend the rest of the day doing other things in the park.

Junk food like fries, hotdogs and burgers are usually served at the park. If you are hungry stop going for light snacks, sit down and go for a buffet. This will allow you to have seconds or even thirds which will get you through the day up until dinner time and save you time and money.

“…If you have a camera, you don’t need to buy souvenirs that are sold at the shop. This is because you will hardly use them when you get back home and these will just end up in a drawer or box.  But if you want to buy something, make sure their useful things like perhaps a paperweight…” added A. Lillo.

Don’t leave the park just yet. One thing you shouldn’t miss is the fireworks show which is minutes before closing and done all year. This goes on for a few minutes with an excellent soundtrack playing in the background.
