Nikon D5000 Battery Grip For Travel Review

It is important to choose the right Nikon D5000 Battery Grip for your travel,Because the digital SLR cameras are getting smaller, offers the addition of a battery grip a little more space for a better camera handling. This helps stabilize the camera properly, and should help to control camera shake, especially when you zoom in on a regular basis or more tele -Lens.

A battery grip is an accessory for an SLR/DSLR (and occasionally other cameras), which allows the camera to hold multiple batteries to extend the battery life of the camera, and adds a vertical grip with an extra shutter release (and other controls), facilitating the shooting of portrait photography.

It usually attaches to the camera body through the cameras own battery compartment and provides a cassette to hold additional batteries to increase the battery life for the camera. Most battery grips also come with a second cassette allowing the photographer to shoot using multiple AA batteries.

The installation of D5000 battery grip for the camera is very simple. In the case of my Canon D5000, it took less than 5 minutes from start to finish and involved, you simply remove the battery cover and attaching the battery grip with a large knurled wheel.
In summary, a Battery Grip will add a little extra weight and size to your camera, but the benefits are so much more than just an extra battery is installed. In fact, once a battery grip on your SLR camera, I doubt that you will not always, installed to remove it!

How To Save Money When Traveling

When we plan a vacation we consider the cost of the tour package which probably includes the tickets, the hotel accommodation and the meals but what we mostly forget is to add the additional expenses we incur on food apart from the regular meals and also the money we spend on shopping. These are the two main reasons why most of us over shoot the budget and end up spending much more than we planned.

While it is not recommended that one goes hungry just because one has to save on the money but there are few practical tips which any traveler can follow to cut the cost. When booking the vacation try and make sure you book the hotel which has breakfast included in the cost this means you do not have to go out in the morning looking for it , it not only saves money it is also quicker and makes it easier for you to leave for the day sightseeing and other activities.

If the meals are part of the package you can carry packed food for the day excursions instead of spending money in restaurants. If you must eat out, check out the prices on the menu card before deciding the place. Ask the locals for the places to eat and not the hotel manager or the tour escort, people who work in tourism may advise you to eat in fancy places which are touristy and not authentic apart from being overpriced. Try to carry at least one meal’s worth food whenever on a long excursion, so that you can avoid the overpriced restaurant if none other is available.

To take care of the in between hunger pangs carry fruits which are not only healthy they are also cheaper.  You may consider carrying multivitamin pills and powdered nutrition drinks to supplement a meager diet. You can also consider buying food stuff from the near by store and carry your favorite spices to liven up store-bought food.

Try to walk if you have to travel short distance, it is healthier and also cheaper. You may also try to use the local transport the bus or the train it will help you know the area better and easy on the pocket too.

When you go shopping look for the place where locals shop not only will it be cheaper it will be a good cultural experience for you. Look in the local newspapers and magazines for bargains stores. Check for special discounts, promotions and sales in the area.

It is a good idea to carry a sheet of paper with currency conversion rates if you are not good with numbers, you could save that extra money which you might end up giving without realizing, due to the conversion issue.

The experience of the vacation will also become a great achievement if you manage to stick to the budget and this can be achieved by following simple and practical tips. Additionally this will mean that you can travel more and more by saving on all the unnecessary expenditure.

The Best Way To Explore A New City

By far, the best way I have found to explore any new city is to hop on some public transport, pick a random station or stop, get off and just walk around. Don’t worry about getting lost, you can always find your way back. Make sure you have some cash on you for food. I always carry a survival kit just in case, but have only ever needed to use the button compass as my personal navigation system has never worked properly. This activity does have the potential of going horribly wrong so here are a few tips;

Take trains when you can. They are much easier to navigate and the ticket machines are usually easy to figure out. I was once in Guanzhou (China) and a bus driver just started yelling at me. As it turned out, what I thought was a $5 note was in fact a 50c note. To make thins worse, my father was Chinese so by looking at me he probably thought I was just a local trying to rip him off.

Look back when walking. This will help you remember where you came from. In Shenzhen I just kept walking. By the time I wanted to go back I couldn’t remember where I had come from and was way out of the train zones. I walked for 5 hours before finding someone that could speak English and point me to a bus back to the city (the same bus I got yelled at on).

Write the address of your hotel down in native characters. This way you can just point at them to a taxi driver. Do the same with airport and other useful places.

Know where the ‘dodgy’ areas are and avoid them. The first time I went to New York I caught the subway in the wrong direction and ended up in the Bronx. Luckily it was in the middle of the day. I walked around for a little bit but I’m pretty sure I saw a gang of Crypts at the bus station. I decided not to catch that bus and headed back to the subway.

Start off in the morning and give yourself the whole day. You may just get lunch and go back to the city (or wherever you’re staying), or you may get stuck for a while. My short trip once lasted 36 hours in Malaysia due to infrequent buses. One every other day apparently, and when the driver felt like it. (A local family took me in for the night, it was by far one of the best experiences Ive had in Malaysia

So for those that aren’t so inclined you can stick to taxis to the museum, but for everyone else I highly recommend the ‘bus to nowhere’ method. The minor mishaps you may have on the way are definitely worth what you may encounter.
