Backpacking – Killer Tips To Choose the Right Backpack

For your trekking or backpacking adventure, choosing the right equipment such as your backpack is very important as your backpack is an essential component for your trip. There are many factors which determine how to choose the right backpack for you. You want to feel confident that you have made the right choice so follow these steps to help you find your perfect backpack.

It is essential that you choose a backpack that is a perfect fit for you. Try different ones on and don’t just buy the first one you see or the cheapest. Be sure to put supplies and equipment in the backpack to simulate how you will use it whilst on your trip. Check you are happy with it under load.

Check the number of pockets and its storage management capabilities. You need to have a good idea what you will take on your trip and be sure you can fit it all in. Don’t buy a backpack only for your next trip. Think about what you may want to achieve in the future in terms of a more adventurous trip – buy a future proof backpack that can accommodate your needs and requirements for both now and in the future.

Know the weight of your typical backpacking load and if you normally don’t mind carrying a heavier load then you may want to consider getting a light weight backpack.

As all backpacks are sized for the torso, make sure you know your measurement before you test out the packs. Go for the larger size if you fall between two different sizes.

Try on the backpack – you should observe that the hip belt should fall at your hips. Make sure the lumber pad is on your lumber region.

The shoulder harness should not get in the way when you try on a pack and you should be able to move your arms around freely.

Once you are happy that all straps are in their correct positions as well as fitting comfortably with the weight inside, be sure you have a full range of movement and can move freely. You should be able to squat and still feel comfortable.

It’s important that the backpack is not only comfortable when it is on you but it must feel comfortable when taking it off too. Practice taking the pack on and off.

If you have checked all of the points and are satisfied then you are virtually there when it comes to choosing the best backpack for you.

How Does a Magnetic Speed Sensor Work

For centuries speed sensors have been used to determine the speed of moving objects. In fact, the very first primitive speed sensors were lengths of rope with a knots tied in them that were tossed over the sides of moving ships to determine how many “knots” the ship was traveling at. However; the advent of the motorized wheeled carriage created the need for a more advanced mechanical speed sensor, such as the type that used a gear and a cable to run a speedometer on an automobile.

A Technological Need

As time and technology progressed however, the need for other types of accurate speed sensors developed. This in turn led to the development of what is often referred to as the magnetic speed sensor. So how do they work? How can a magnet detect and transmit the speed of a moving object?

The Hall Effect

It is not just the magnet in a magnetic speed sensor that is used to determine speed but an electrical current that surrounds the magnet as well. There is a certain electrical phenomena called the “Hall effect” that is used to determine the speed of an object with a magnet.

An Electrical Current

In short, when an electrical current is ran near a magnet and the magnet detects ferrous metal such as iron or steel the electrical current is effected. This electrical effect can then be transmitted by wires to a speed gage where it can be displayed.

Gear Toothed Magnetic Sensor

Often a gear is used in conjunction with a magnetic speed sensor. As the gear spins or turns, each spline or tooth in it will be detected by the magnet as it passes and a corresponding electrical pulse is sent out. The faster the gear spins the faster the electrical pulses the sensor sends and thus a speed reading is made.

Food And Culture Tips To Enjoy Travel To Morocco

What I love most about travelling is the first hand knowledge of other cultures. There is something unique about discovering the traditions, the way of life, the arts & crafts and especially the food. All Countries are fascinating in their own way; however there are places in the world that are richer than others in a way of traditions and history. Morocco is one of them. Not only Morocco sprouts history from every corner with its beautiful architecture and the Medina, which has kept the unspoilt status of old city and seems to guard its hidden secrets, but the traditions are just as evident in everyday life. You just need to visit one of the famous Moroccan markets to see the abundance of their arts and crafts, and if you are lucky enough you might even barter yourself a deal and take home one of the renowned Moroccan rugs or a precious handmade piece of silver jewellery.

Food lovers who travel to Morocco will be able to please their taste buds during their visit to Morocco where traditional food is well known for its succulent Tajine and couscous dishes. Moroccan food is based on meat, usually lamb or chicken, vegetables, couscous and a large selection of bread. Each recipe tends to carry very strong flavours, and will surely provide a wonderful gastronomic experience.

Soups are very popular and often a meal starts with a rich and spicy pulse soup called the Harira. As well as a first course pulse soups are often served for breakfast at cafes. Just like Harira, Bisara is a popular breakfast dish, a rich chickpea soup with fresh olive oil poured over the top. Many cafes specialize in soups and they are usually recognized by the piles of cups on the counter.

The other succulent Moroccan dish is the famous Tajine, which takes its name from the dish – a heavy ceramic covered dish – rather than the food itself. Classic Tajines are usually made with a generous portion of meat in the middle of the dish surrounded by vegetables and fruit. The dish is central to the success of a good Tajine that needs to slow-cook with the lid on. Lamb Tajines are usually cooked with almonds and prunes, while chicken Tajines are made with green olives and lemon. If you happen to be invited for a meal in someone’s house, the Tajine will be in the middle of the table and the custom is to eat the vegetables in front of you accepting the pieces of meat the host offers you.

Couscous is the most renowned Moroccan dish, coarse semolina steamed with vegetables and spices served with lamb or chicken. Traditionally couscous is not a dish you would find at restaurants, but it is the food the locals eat on special days and the best couscous you could have is at a Moroccan household. If you wish to eat it at the restaurant remember to order it a few hours before you go.

Dates, yoghurt, fresh cheese and olives are popular snacks accompanied with the many types of bread available. Mint tea is the national drink and is often offered in sign of friendship and during negotiation over price in shops.
