Students cash in on really cheap flights

This is amazing and can show you if you know where to look how students can cash in on really cheap flights. I have been writing travel blogs for awhile now promoting “really cheap airfares” and I wanted to post a responce I had received a couple days back.

“Hey Christine, we followed your advice on booking our trip at the airport instead of online. We went to the ticket agent just before they closed at the airport. The agent was a little annoyed because we walked in just before they closed. Wow, you were right, we saved more this way and we got our tickets in hand. The posted price return  KC to NYC was $315US. We booked for $198US return.”

Not all the time going to the airport will be a great deal. Factor in how far you are from, gas etc. There is always deals out there but, you have to know how to search and what is a good price. Knowledge will get you the really cheap airfares. Its all a game and if you know all the rules, you will have a better chance at winning.

If you have questions, ask. Listen to what everyone is saying around you. Airports people, agents like to talk and you can pick up useful information.

Did you know?

Buying an airline gift card can give you triple the miles when flying. Don’t book your trip and pay cash. First, go buy a gift card for $250. then purchase your ticket with that.

The best way to get really cheap airfares.

Top Ten Ways To Save Money On Your Disney World Vacation

Disney World is one of the few locations that people will save and save to visit.  However, with the price of a Disney World vacation increasing, daily, people also want to find every possible way to save money on a Disney World vacation.
There are many ways to save money on a Disney vacation, but we’d like to offer our top ten.  Some of these will not be the ways you would expect to save money on your Disney vacation!

  1. Stay on property at a value resort.  Many people believe they will save more money by staying on an off-property resort or hotel, but by the time you add in gas for driving, parking costs, dining costs (provided you follow tip number two), transfers from the airport, and all the other costs associated with not staying on property, you will come out on the losing end, in the long run.
  2. Get the Disney Dining Plan.  You cannot purchase food at the parks for less than the cost of the dining plan.
  3. Purchase sundries prior to entering the Disney World Resort.  Batteries, sunscreen, ponchos, sunglasses, diapers, water, swimmies, snacks all cost a small fortune inside the Disney World complex and you can buy them for a fraction of the cost at any major retailer, located minutes from the parks.
  4. Buy the Disney resort re-fillable mug.  This is by far the best deal Disney has going.  Not only do you get a cool Disney souvenir, you get unlimited drinks at your resort.  With the air conditioning blasting away in the Florida heat, you will drink much more than normal, so you need the free refills.
  5. Purchase souvenirs at the Character Warehouse.  Character Warehouse has all the same stuff you will find in the parks (for the most part) at about half the cost.  It’s located in the Festival Bay mall on International Drive.  Just minutes from the Disney World Resort.
  6. Purchase Disney gift cards for each of the kids.  This provides a way to limit spending by them and by you on their behalf.
  7. Book with an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner, also known as Earmarked agencies.  These are the true Disney specialists that keep a look out for your best interests, including changing your reservation to a better rate, if it becomes available before your Disney vacation.
  8. Pre-order your tickets.  You won’t save a ton of money, but you will save a few bucks per ticket if you pre-order and you will save a lot of hassle once you arrive at the Disney parks.  Whatever you do, don’t go through a timeshare sales pitch to get cheap tickets, unless you plan waste an entire afternoon and buy a timeshare.
  9. Go in the off-season.  Of course, this one’s difficult if you have children, because the off-season is in the middle of the school year.  However, Disney drops their rates to the lowest levels of the year during the off-season.
  10. Take advantage of every discount available to you.  AAA, military, airline points, hotel points, rental car loyalty programs, and so on.

Just use a couple of these tips and you could save hundreds on your Disney World vacation.  Use all ten and you could save thousands!

The Best Way to Travel on a Budget

Well you won’t be traveling to Monaco and staying at a five star resort on a budget, will you? Maybe so!  Mostly, traveling on a budget means finding the cheapest price for the experience you want.

When traveling on a budget it’s best to keep in mind the following points:

1. Travel in the off-peak seasons. You can save up to as much as fifty per cent off air flights and accommodation costs if you plan to travel in low season times.

2. Stay away from popular tourist spots (unless they are on your ‘must-see’ list). If you can go off the beaten track with your destinations, things can be cheaper to see and do and your cultural experiences will be richer.

3. Try camping. Not only is it the cheapest form of accommodation it’s a great way to get up close and personal to nature. It’s the best way to see National Parks and Heritage listed areas.

4. Look for special travel offers (or packages). But make sure you check everything that they include – and don’t include.

5. Invest in a travel pass where you are able. Most developed countries have a rail or bus transport system where you can obtain day, week or monthly passes that will get you around cheaply.

6. Get a work permit if you aim to gain employment while traveling overseas. Working can help subsidize places that aren’t so cheap, such as Europe and Australia.

7. Look for good exchange rates on the dollar. This may help you decide which country to travel to.

8. Think about shortening your visit to destinations that are expensive and increasing your length of stay in cheaper places.

9. Where possible use your credit card. The exchange rate is better.

10. When staying in a hotel, avoid paying for ‘extras’. Don’t touch anything from the honor bar. Don’t watch the in-house movies and don’t use the hotel phone. And try not to use room service too much!

On the world scene there are some great places to travel on a budget for under thirty dollars a day. In Asia you can try India, Laos, China, Cambodia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Thailand, Sumatra and Burma. In Central and South America you can visit El Salvador, Bolivia and Ecuador. If you are after a budget experience in the Pacific, try Fiji or New Zealand. Over in Africa there are some great budget destinations such as Kenya, Egypt, Morocco, Malawi, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Ghana. Don’t forget the Middle East where places like Iran, Syria and Turkey provide excellent value for money and wonderful experiences for the budget traveler.

There is no ‘best place’ to travel on a budget. Just be prepared to look around, avoid the pitfalls of unwanted costs in package deals or hotel bookings. If you want to travel and your budget doesn’t meet your expectations, be flexible and see if there is somewhere cheaper you might like to experience. You could be pleasantly surprised with your stay in India or Iran, when you thought you wanted to go to Tahiti.

Things to Bring When You're on an African Safari Trip

Safari Clothing – The clothes you bring on a trip are important because you want to be both comfortable and protected. In the wilds of Africa, a long sleeve shirt is a must to bring to protect you from annoying mosquito bites and to keep you from the hot sun as well. You’ll need long trousers too for the same reasons. Avoid also bright colored clothing because it can attract animals. For that reason, most safari clothing you will find come in khaki, tan, and light brown. Neutral colors are also effective in keeping you cooler during warm days. Back Pack – When you pack for your African travel, you have to carry your back pack not more than 25 pounds since you will be lugging it around from camp to camp. Make sure that the straps of your pack fit you comfortably. Thus it is also better to talk to your travel specialist of how many things will you be bringing because you may only need a few days of clothing supply since many of the camps and lodges have laundry facilities. Sun and Mosquito Protection – You have to keep in mind that you are not going to a beach, but to a Safari. Therefore you will most probably encounter mosquitoes so it is better to bring strong mosquito repellent containing DEET with you. Be sure to spray your clothes and exposed skin. Avoid also using perfume, hairspray, and other scented products because they may attract mosquitoes. Remember to also pack sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Polarized Sunglasses – Bring polarized sunglasses with good quality to protect you from the strong, bright sun. Good Walking Shoes – Bring comfortable shoes that fit you well. Pack good quality socks too. These can help you walk and roam around the place easy. Sun Hat – Bring a quality hat with a good brim to cover your face and ears. Camera – Capture the wonderful sceneries and as well as rare animals that you see in the Safari. Make sure to bring also extra batteries. Other things that you can bring are: Personal toiletries, binoculars, basic medical supplies, tissues, waterproof bags for camera and electronic devices.
