Don’t Get Stung By Cheap Last Minute Holidays

There are not many people that can say they haven’t been affected in some way by the recession. When it first hit and we were warned by Gordon Brown that there were tough times ahead and we’d need to pull our belts in, most of us decided that holidays were one thing that we wouldn’t compromise on. However, in reality, many of us have had to forgo our annual trip to sunny climes and now the winter is here, we are really feel like we’ve missed out. So we need to find out how we can still manage to get away on holiday, while sticking to a budget. What is the best way to go about finding cheap last minute holidays?

The best place to start is on the internet, this gives the widest option of finding the best prices without trailing from shop to shop. How to search is up to you, you may have a destination in mind so you can use a search engine such as Google or Yahoo, and search directly for that, or you may be more general and search for ‘cheap last minute holidays’ for example. This will result in a number of options being brought up which you can then compare.

Searching online also gives you the option to sign up for airlines email offers so you will receive discount news before anyone else, and also benefit from any last minute sales.

Booking flights that fly at unsociable times can also save you money, no-one usually opts for these flights if they can help it so airlines usually charge less to encourage people to book them.

Check flights from different airports, you can sometimes fly from other airports cheaper than your local one, and it is sometimes more economical to travel a bit further and stay overnight than it is to fly from your usual choice.

Be careful when booking to check for hidden charges, cheap last minute holidays can become more and more expensive at each click of a button if you are not careful. Some airlines will give you a base price and then add ‘extras’ as you go along, for instance checking in baggage, flight meals, pre booked seating and then just when you think you’ve agreed a price, they add a credit card charge on.

Type your details in carefully and check the small print as some companies will charge a small fortune to amend a booking, we’re talking ?50 a letter here so be warned!! It can be false economy to get bargain cheap last minute holidays, only to discover you’re paying a fortune in extra charges.

Make sure the company you book with is either ABTA (Association of British travel Agents) or ATOL (Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing) bonded, and then if anything does go wrong with your tour operator, you can claim your money back.  ABTA is for agents who sell holidays on behalf of a tour operator, ATOL is for those who sell flight tickets only.

ABTA and ATOL do not cover everything though; you should always take out private travel insurance whether you are having an overnight trip or few months travelling the world. Travel insurance is there for the smaller and more personal things. It can cover you for flight delays, illness, injury and loss of possessions. Booking cheap last minute holidays is a fantastic way to get away with minimal cost; however if something unfortunate happens, it could end up costing you a fortune. So don’t look at it as wasting money by booking travel insurance, look at it as safeguarding yourself and your finances, making sure those cheap last minute holidays don’t end up costing you a fortune.

Different types of private jets

Although it has been traditionally believed that private jet hire was the sole domain of the mega-rich and privileged, in recent years private air charter has become much more accessible to the average person for private shopping trips or for companies who wish to send groups of employees to overseas meetings and conferences.
With this growing trend to become an increasingly accessible form of national and international travel, it can be a much easier choice to make and you can hire a variety of jets and airplanes. For instance, for larger groups of travellers, it would make sense to hire a much larger aircraft to accommodate these greater numbers.
Many larger aircrafts can hold a minimum of 15 to 20 people and are appropriate for longer trips or for those corporate excursions which may involve returning heavier loads of stock or goods for resale or for the creation of new products. For smaller parties for example, a lighter aircraft may be most suitable; many of these smaller crafts can hold up to eight passengers and can be much cheaper and affordable than heavier planes, especially for shorter trips.
Other types of aircraft that can be hired by private parties are helicopters. Helicopters are ideal aircraft for the transportation of small groups to relatively short distances especially if a quick arrival is important. One advantage of using a helicopter is that the group travelling can enjoy full panoramic views of the landscape they are travelling through. This mode of transport can also make an instant impact on those awaiting the arrival of the party; this can instantly convey a professional and successful corporate image. With a range of private aircraft available for hire here at JetAir we can provide an individual or organisation with the aircraft requirements to specifically suit their individual needs.

Avoid Crowded Costa’s & Discover Secret Spain

Anyone considering a summer holiday this year may be put off by the thought of a crowded beach on a Spanish Costa or the over familiarity of resorts packed with British tourists. However, there are areas of Spain that are not over-populated by tourists and offer beaches unspoilt by the masses.

The Costa de la Luz (Coast of Light) on the sandy shores of the Atlantic in the South Western corner of Spain promises an alternative to the commercialised Mediterranean resorts. Stretching from Tarifa near Gibraltar to the border of the Algarve, The Costa de la Luz is a particular favourite with the Spanish. In fact you may find yourself longing for company as you stroll along the near deserted and tranquil beaches.

With restrictions on development meaning many of the beaches remain unspoilt, Costa de la Luz holidays enjoy a notably Andalucian atmosphere with a strong flamenco tradition and extraordinary carnivals and religious processions. Holidays on the Costa de la Luz feature superb Andalucian cuisine with tapas bars and superior fish and seafood far outweighing more predictable tourist menus.

The combination of sandy beaches, friendly locals and great food make Costa de la Luz holidays a wonderful experience and one yet to be exposed on a large scale. However this is not to say it does attract a number of discerning holidaymakers with the insight to appreciate what is on offer, namely the near perfect windsurfing conditions and the world class surfing.

Although the attractive beaches are vast and often seem deserted, they are also within reach of some of Europe’s most fascinating cities meaning you can be in touch with the best of both worlds. This particular area of Andalucia is populated by historic cities rich in culture and tradition such as Cadiz, Seville and Jerez, or beautiful hilltop towns like Vejer and Arcos. One minute you can be strolling along a deserted beach, the next you can be exploring the charismatic Andalucian cities. An excellent example, Tarifa boasts a labyrinth of boutiques, surf shops, terraced cafes and restaurants dotted around the streets which wind up towards the late-Gothic 15th century church of San Mateo and a great castle overlooking the town. Tarifa also boasts an impressive nightlife with its many bars and clubs encouraging a growing reputation as the ‘new Ibiza’ or the ‘Malibu of Europe’.

Other holidaymakers are drawn by the more relaxing pursuits of walking, bird watching and horse riding or simply soaking up the Spanish sun. In fact, the Costa de la Luz is a magnet for birdwatchers. Between Cadiz and Southern Portugal is Europe’s largest wildlife sanctuary, the Coto Donanan National Park, which is home to an unprecedented number of bird species. This corner of Spain is also one of the most historic, ranging from the 2nd century BC Roman site of Baela Claudia, about 9 miles north of Tarifa, hosting numerous temples and a restored theatre carved out of the side of a hilltop. Another nearby picturesque town, Vejer de la Fontera, sits high upon the hills with a 16 century church and a delightful Spanish plaza incorporating spectacular views.

For those tired of commercialised Spanish holidays, the Costa de la Luz literally gives an insight into traditional Spain and has an array of attractions to match rival holiday resorts within the other Costas. The only difference is that for now, it is left relatively untouched, also meaning there are chances to find cheaper deals. directline-holidays.co.uk combine an efficient search facility using all the major tour operators with the ease to book online or over the phone to find a perfect Costa de la Luz holiday. Other recommended resorts in the Costa de la Luz include Chipiona which is close to Jerez and popular with discerning locals from Cadiz and Seville. For holidays closer to the Cadiz region, directline-holidays.co.uk offer Nova Sancti Petri holidays, a secluded beach resort with excellent golf and water sports facilities.
